About the Muhtadi International Drumming Festival
The Muhtadi International Drumming Festival (MIDF), now in its 18th year, is a two-day annual event that celebrates the drum, it’s presence in all cultures and its cultural relevance today in communities around the world.
The festival takes place in Woodbine Park, a part of the larger Beaches area in Toronto; a community known for its vibrancy, natural surroundings, and great outdoor sound stage.
Muhtadi International Drumming Festival (MIDF) is extremely proud to present Canada-Our Home On Native Land, as our theme for 2017. We are paying homage to our First Nations as we celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
This year we have added a FREE, family-fun event. Let The Children Play invites children of all ages to join the members of Muhtadi World Drummers to play various percussion instruments provided by the group, bring their own, or have fun with the group creating new instruments from everyday materials.
For two days, our guests will enjoy 50+ Local and internationally known Master Drummers and Drum Groups on our Main Stage, while enjoying the other great features of the festival.
Our Drum Village will host clinics throughout the day and guests will get to try many different percussion instruments. We also have the newly added Youth Drum Zone where we have added Electronic drums to the festival, and a beer garden where adult beverages can be enjoyed while enjoying the show and lots of great cultural food!
